SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -
Three people face charges after an overnight police chase with speeds reaching 95 mph on Interstate 71.
Hamilton County sheriff's officials say the chase ensued after they responded to a 7:49 p.m. report of a robbery in the parking lot of Lens Crafters, 7800 Montgomery Rd.
A caller told authorities a female victim had her purse stolen, and the suspects fled in a silver Ford Taurus.
A responding deputy spotted the Taurus and tried to pull it over.
Sheriff's officials said the driver, David Lowe, 52, refused to stop and led them on a chase.
The pursuit went onto northbound Interstate 71, where speeds reached 95 mph, and continued into Warren County, according to the sheriff's office.
Warren County sheriff's deputies threw stop sticks down on the highway in an attempt to deflate the fleeing vehicle's tires.
The sticks worked, and the car stopped.
Lowe was taken into custody along with two female passengers: Sandra Turner, 50, and Sharon Smith, 49, sheriff's officials said.
Upon further investigation, deputies said they concluded the robbery reported at Lens Crafters was actually a theft from Lens Crafters and TJ Maxx that occurred before the pursuit, and no purse was taken in the offense.
All three suspects were arrested on charges for theft and possession of criminal tools.
Lowe also was charged with failure to comply and driving under suspension.
His bond was set at $252,000 in a brief hearing Wednesday morning.
