WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -

All lanes are open again on northbound Interstate 75 between Union Centre Boulevard and Cincinnati-Dayton Road after an overnight police incident blocked the right lanes for several hours.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded about 12:30 a.m. after a crash and suicide following a police pursuit that began at 12:15 a.m., according to Evendale police.

Police tried to pull over a suspected impaired driver behind the wheel of a green mini-van on northbound Interstate 75 south of Sharon Road, police said in a prepared statement.

The driver refused to stop and continued traveling 50 to 60 mph in the 65 mph zone. The chase ensued into neighboring Butler County, where the vehicle struck a guardrail south of the Cincinnati Dayton Road exit and gradually stopped, according to police.

When officers approached it, they discovered the driver was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot.

Evidence at the scene indicates that shots may have also been fired out the back window of the suspect vehicle, police said.

An investigation remains ongoing.

The driver's name and age was not released.
