CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Bengals cornerback Adam Jones was rolling around on a scooter in the team's locker room with a cast on his right foot on Wednesday.

Jones told ESPN's Coley Harvey that he would not play on Sunday but is hopeful he can play next week against the San Francisco 49ers.  Head coach Marvin Lewis did not go as far as ruling out Jones but gave his customary "We'll see" when asked by the local media about his status.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport tweeted that Jones' foot is not broken.

The secondary took another hit as cornerback Leon Hall (back) and starting safety George Iloka (groin) did not participate in practice.

The injuries to the secondary come at a bad time for the Bengals. Pittsburgh's Ren Roethlisberger threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns in last week's blow out win over the Indianapolis Colts.

On a brighter note for the orange and black, tight end Tyler Eifert returned to practice in a limited fashion. The return to the practice field shows progress for Eifert who suffered a stinger two weeks ago against the St. Louis Rams.

Cornerback Josh Shaw participated fully in practice suffering a scary hit against the Browns last week. If Hall and Jones can't go on Sunday expect Shaw to receive significant playing time in the secondary.
