Warm December weather causing problems at Perfect North

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -

The recent warm weather is great for those who aren't ready for winter, but bad for anyone in the business of snow.

Perfect North in Lawrenceburg has had to delay their opening day because it's too warm for the snow to stick to the slopes.

Most of the snow has melted, turning a few of the ski runs into a muddy mess.

"Big dent in the morale right now. We really don't like to be closed and not to see our winter friends and passholders," said Perfect North operating manager Jonathan Davis. "The pass sales are a little bit down and of course there are no ticket sales but December is slower than the other months. Hopefully, since it's an El Niño year, we're hoping that the snowfall will be above average and we'll make up for it in January and February."

The average opening day for Perfect North is Dec 6.
