CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

A convicted killer whose death sentence was overturned will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Rayshawn Johnson beat his neighbor to death in 1997 during a robbery that netted $50.

Earlier this month the Ohio Supreme Court rejected Johnson's death sentence based on his troubled upbringing and subsequent remorse.

Judge Megan Shanahan resentenced Johnson to life without parole on Monday.

Johnson followed 29-year-old Shanon Marks into her home, emptied her purse then beat her with a bat.
