Council votes mural move

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

City Council officially decided to make money available to move the historic Union Terminal murals.

Cincinnati leaders approved the move of the nine historic murals from their current location at CVG to Duke Energy Convention Center.

The artworks were made in 1933 and are being housed in two airport terminals that are set for demolition.

The murals would be installed in glass enclosures on the back side of Duke Energy Convention Center along Central Avenue.

Members of the Cincinnati Preservation association have at least two concerns with that.

"The problem with it is, it's not a high exposure for the public to see them, because that sidewalk is not very well trafficked.  And it presents some issues with the sun that need to be controlled," said Paul Muller.

The Kenton County Airport board would pay $2 million dollars to remove and transport them.

The $750,000 cost of installation would be fronted by the city.
