COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

A woman died after an apartment fire early Friday, police officials said.

Marie O'Brien, 61, was found unresponsive in the hallway at Panorama Apartments on Brent Spence Square just before 2 a.m., they said.

She was transported to St. Elizabeth Covington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Her cause of death remains under investigation.

Earlier this morning, fire officials said a resident was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation treatment after smoke was found in the building, along with a small fire in one of the rooms on the seventh floor.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

No other injuries were reported.

The resident who lives in the apartment where the fire began was displaced, fire officials said.

The fire has been ruled accidental, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

A damage estimate was not available.
