FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) -

David Markham, the father of the 22-year-old who was killed in 2011, has requested that the investigation into the murder be handed over to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

The Fairfield Police Department has been assisted by several agencies during the investigation, all in the effort to bring the individual(s) responsible for Katelyn Markham's death to justice, according to police.

Markham was reported missing in August of 2011, last seen at her Fairfield home. In 2013, her skeletal remains were found in Cedar Grove, Indiana by people looking for scrap metal along a creek.

"We are open to other law enforcement agencies reviewing the investigation," said Fairfield police. "We have spoken with the Butler County Sheriff's Office and BCI and will try to arrange a meeting with them in the near future."
