Great Miami River expected to crest Tuesday

The Great Miami River is expected to crest Tuesday at 1 p.m. after flood warnings were issued, according to FOX19 NOW Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer.

In Middletown, water recorded at 12.5 feet Tuesday morning - just a few inches above flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones warned people Monday to stay away from the water. He posted a video on Twitter from the Two Mile Dam along the Great Miami in Hamilton, Ohio.

"Please don't get close to the Dam, these are dangerous waters. Stay safe Butler County," Jones said

In Hamilton, near the Two Mile Dame, the river was recorded at 72.25 feet, with the flood stage being at 75 feet, according to the National Weather Service. The river is expected to crest at 71.8 feet.

In Miamitown, the Great Miami is expected to crest at 20.9 feet – nearly five feet above flood stage – on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
