Police: Man shot 14-year-old

A 34-year-old man faces a judge Thursday on a charge he shot and wounded a 14-year-old boy earlier this month.

Kent Smith is scheduled to make a 9 a.m. court appearance in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Cincinnati police arrested and charged him Wednesday with one count of felonious assault in connection with the Dec. 19 shooting in the 1100 block of Rutledge Avenue, court records show.

A motive in the attack was not disclosed. The victim's condition was not clear.

Smith also is held on an aggravated burglary charge from a Dec. 14  incident in the 1100 block of Rutledge Avenue, records state.

In that case, he was seen by witnesses entering a residence with a firearm, records show.

The handgun was recovered when he was arrested and determined to be the same one used in the alleged aggravated burglary offense, police wrote in records.
