Slaying Plot

Man accused of trying to kill estranged wife gets prison term

A man accused of trying to murder his estranged wife three times pleaded guilty today and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Butler County prosecutors say 35-year-old Christopher Rezos will not be eligible for early release or parole. Amy Rezos said she was glad her husband pleaded, but added that she will never feel safe again. Christopher Rezos was accused of beating Amy unconscious last July, then shooting her in the head three weeks later as she was driving to work. While jailed in January, Rezos contracted with someone he thought was a hit man to kill his wife, her brother, and her mother.

The "hit man" turned out to be an undercover sheriff's officer.

Relatives said he was angry because his wife was leaving him. She plans to raise their two sons, ages two and seven.
