Police: North College Hill shop owner shot during armed robbery

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

North College Police searching for a suspect who allegedly shot the owner of an auto repair shop during an attempted robbery Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to the Leach Brothers Automotive store on West Galbraith Road around 2 p.m.

North College Hill Police say the suspect produced a firearm and demanded money. When the employee called for help and attempted to flee from the office into the work area, the suspect shot the employee in the back and fled from the scene heading southbound behind the business along Simpson Avenue.

Officials transported the victim to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.

"They seem pretty nice.  They run a legit business and try to make their money like any other normal, living family,” said Matthew Young who works in the area.  “For somebody to do that, that’s really messed up.”
 

Police describe the suspect as an black male, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and possibly a ski mask or scarf over his face and was armed.

North College Hill posted on their Facebook page that the subject should be considered armed and dangerous.
