A popular Cincinnati brewery announced Wednesday that it will begin work on a new $18 million production brewery, taproom and event center in Oakley.

MadTree Brewing will renovate the former RockTenn building at 3301 Madison Road, which is approximately one mile away from their current location.

The brewery hopes to open the new facility later this year. It will feature a 100-barrel brewhouse, a taproom featuring 64 taps and a 10,000 square foot outdoor beer garden.

Renovations will also allow an expanded Catch-A-Fire Pizza café, two private event spaces, and office space for staff.

The new MadTree Brewing Company complex will immediately bring 50 jobs to the city with plans to create 40 more jobs over the next three years.

"It was extremely important for us to remain connected to the city and neighborhoods that have supported us since day one," said Kenny McNutt, MadTree Brewing co-founder, in a news release. "This is where we all live, work, and play, and we didn't want to abandon our home to save a few pennies."

The company said the expansion was also driven by demand for MadTree beers in less than three years of existence.

"We've been struggling to keep up with demand locally and this expansion will allow us to catch-up. Plus, we can begin sharing MadTree in other parts of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana," said Brady Duncan, MadTree Brewing co-founder, in the release. "It's still a bit surreal to think how far we've come in less than three years."

Founded by McNutt, Duncan and Jeff Hunt, MadTree opened in early 2013. Its brands include PsycHOPathy, Gnarly Brown and Happy Amber.
