Two children are being treated for hypothermia after falling through the ice at Lake Lorlei in Brown Co., officials said.
The children, ages 8 and 10-years-old, were rescued from the lake around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday evening.
A neighbor used a paddle boat to reach the children in the lake and brought them to shore, a Fayetteville official confirmed. One child was able to exit the lake under their own power. The second child needed assistance from the Fayetteville Fire Department, according to Fayetteville officials.
Both children were breathing when they were airlifted to the hospital, Brown Co. dispatch initially confirmed. Officials say the children are expected to recover.
