UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) -

If you're a college student living in an apartment or a dorm on campus, you know how inconvenient it can be when it comes to receiving or returning packages.

A new Amazon store in the middle of the University of Cincinnati should alleviate some of that inconvenience.

The store will allow students to order all items through Amazon Student and have it delivered to the store for free.

To make things even easier, a text or email will be sent to them as soon as their package arrives at the store.

Amazon and university officials will hold an 11 a.m. ceremony Thursday to mark the location's opening.

Though the store isn't officially affiliated with the university, President Santa Ono is expected to attend.

This will be the third Amazon store to in the nation that has the campus pick up points program.

This program will allow students to have their orders sent to this physical location on campus, where they can pick it up at their convenience.

To pick up a same-day order, you simply scan a barcode and a locker pops open.

They'll will also be able to return rented textbooks here.

Students who are Amazon Prime or Amazon Student Prime subscribers get the extra benefit of faster delivery for certain items when placing orders through Amazon's store.

Some items are available for free pickup within a day at their school's pick-up point rather than the usual two-day delivery.

The store will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
