TRINITY, AL (WAFF) -

A Trinity mom is dead after an apparent drug overdose inside her 7-month-old daughter's hospital room. The baby girl's father was found unconscious but was revived. It happened at the Cincinnati Children's hospital.

Family friend Lena Greenhaw Whitworth said she is in complete shock and said she never imagined something so disturbing happening to such a nice family. She says the couple seemed to have the perfect life.

"Look through their Facebook pictures and you can see that they're the picture perfect family,” Whitworth said.

Photos tell one story about Mary Ann and Wesley Landers, but reality tells a different story.

"This is definitely an eye-opener,”  Whitworth said.

Hospital staff found Mary Ann Landers in her daughter's hospital room. Mary Ann was unconscious with a needle in her arm.

"Mary Ann she was just the sweetest, sweetest girl,” Whitworth said.

Wesley Landers was locked inside the private bathroom. He was also found unconscious with a heroin syringe in his arm and revived with Narcan. Two other syringes were nearby on the bathroom counter, according to court documents.

"He was, he is a hard worker and he's a good dad you know everything he did was to make sure those kids had what they needed,” Whitworth said.

Family friends say they had no idea either parent did drugs.

"Oh no. No. Not with them,” friends said.

Those who knew the couple were left wondering why.

"I have no idea. I have no idea. I don't know if they had received some bad news or, really I don't know,” Greenhaw Whitworth said.

Friends say the couple's youngest daughter, Lucy, was at the hospital for surgery. The couple recently set up a GoFundMe page to cover the medical expenses.

"They're not bad people, they're not bad parents,”  Whitworth said.

Friends said all they can do now is wait for more answers.

Police said Wesley was taken to University Hospital for a possible overdose. He since has been arrested and faces charges of possession of drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons while under disability, and possessing drug abuse instruments.
