FRANKLIN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -

The Indiana State Police responded to a head-on vehicle crash on State Road 46 Friday near Pocket Road, just west of Batesville that sent three people to Margaret Mary Hospital with serious injuries.

According to the initial investigation, a red 2008 Chevrolet being driven by Chelsey Moore, 25, was traveling westbound on State Road 46 when her vehicle traveled left of center in an attempt to avoid a vehicle that was turning in front of her.

Officials said Moore's vehicle struck a gold 2006 Mercedes SUV being driven by Jerry Welborn, 76, that was traveling eastbound on State Road 46.

Investigators said the head-on collision caused both vehicle to leave the roadway with Welborn's vehicle overturning and coming to rest on its top.

Welborn and his wife Jane Welborn, 76, were both transported by EMS to Margaret Mary Hospital. Moore was also transported for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.

All injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

Traffic on State Road 46 was affected for over an hour. The investigation is reportedly ongoing.
