CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Ickey Woods honored his son by donating $100,000 to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Monday.

Woods, on behalf of the Jovante Wood Foundation, made the donation for asthma research.

"We started doing some research and we come to find asthma is a deadly disease, which I didn't know before it took my son from me," Woods said.

He said he hopes the donation will allow the center to find not only a better way to treat asthma, but a cure as well.

Jovante would have been 21-years-old Monday.
