Buckle Up, Bunbury suing City over admissions tax

We're still months away from the Bunbury and Buckle Up music festivals, but the owners of those fests are suing the City of Cincinnati.

The festival owners said the City of Cincinnati is unlawfully charging an admissions tax that is not levied on similar festivities, according to court documents.

Bunbury and Buckle Up are using the MidPoint Music Festival as an example. The festivals said MidPoint charged admission but never had to pay an admissions tax. MidPoint was not charged an admissions tax because the festival did not have reserved seating, according to court documents.

Buckle Up and Bunbury do not have reserved seating.

The City has countered saying that the taxes are fair and were agreed upon before the festivals, documents show.

The Buckle Up Music Festival will return in 2016 to Summit Park in Blue Ash, and Bunbury will take place June 3-5 at Sawyer Point.
