RIPLEY, OH (FOX19) -

The suspect accused of attacking a Ripley police officer was arrested Thursday, Brown County officials confirm.

Police found Kyle Moore, 26, around noon at Ohio Valley Manor, an elderly care facility off Old US Highway 62.

Moore is being held under a $2M bond.

Officer John Amole was airlifted to a hospital after a man attacked him and stole his service gun late on South Second Street about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Amole approached a man wanted on a felony warrant as the man walked outside PCP Champion MetalWorks, Brown County dispatchers said.

Amole, a Ripley officer just five months, radioed into dispatchers that the suspect was behind the business.

After a few minutes, the officer requested another officer respond. Dispatchers said they quickly scrambled one out, but then Amole's radio went silent when they called to check on him.

One of the first responding officers found Amole assaulted with facial injuries.

AirCare flew the injured officer to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken nose and jaw, according to dispatchers.

He was released about 5 a.m.

His weapon, however, was discovered missing and authorities said they believe Moore took it.

Police unsuccessfully searched for Moore overnight before locating him Thursday afternoon.
