WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

The Warren County Sheriff's Office is warning the community about phone scammers claiming to be deputies.

Officials said several people have reported receiving calls where the suspect identifies himself as Deputy David Scott and tells the person that the Warren County Sheriff's Office has a warrant out for their arrest.

The scammer then says the person can get a money order and give him the information in order to have the warrant recalled, according to reports.

"The Warren County Sheriff's Office wants the public to be aware we do not call and ask for payment over the phone," stated Sergeant Brian Hounshell. "This is a scam and if you receive one of these calls, just hang up the phone and ignore the caller."
