The cold conditions caused problems for fire crews battling a three-alarm fire in Pendleton early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called to a vacant building on East 12th St. around 1 a.m. to find flames shooting through the roof.
The apartment building next door to the building was evacuated as a precaution as crew were worried about the fire spreading.
Officials say 10 people were displaced. No injuries were reported.
Road crews arrived to put salt down after the water used to put out the flames started to freeze. Officials warn icy spots are possible in the area.
There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time.
Estimated damage is around $200,000.
