A Loveland man says he found himself stuck on a central Kentucky highway for 15 hours as snow fell throughout the state Saturday morning.

Vern Wooten was traveling from Atlanta back to Loveland on Interstate 75 when drivers started to stop.

"Once I got to the London exit, it was all backed up. You couldn't even get off. And I maybe went a mile beyond that and we just came to a halt," Wooten said.

Hundreds of drivers were completely stranded on the remote stretch of I-75 highway. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials say there were so many crashes on I-75 in Rockcastle County, near London, that they had to shut it down.

But the snow kept coming.

"It was still really snowing hard and it really picked up the snow. That was probably the big thing, for probably the next five or six hours it really came down and it got realty deep on the interstate while we were sitting there."

Wooten says he pass the time emailing, surfing the web, and posting on Facebook until traffic started to move again. But it was during that time he says something kind happened amid the snowy chaos.

"There was a local family that came out and were bringing bottles of water and snacks and just giving them to people because they were stranded," Wooten said.

Wooten says the area was pretty remote and the snow was deep.

"It was impressive to thanks somebody would think to do that," Wooten said.

Wooten said keeping a full tank of gas really helped in the situation.
