Ohio 28 is back open after a couple of water main breaks shut it down in Miami Township overnight. (FOX19 NOW/Dan Wells)
MIAMI TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -
Ohio 28 is back open after two water main breaks shut it completely down for about 12 hours.
One lane of traffic is moving in each direction while crews continue work to repair one of the breaks.
They responded to the area after a passerby spotted water shooting up from a manhole on Ohio 28 near Branch Hill-Guinea Pike just after 8 p.m. Sunday, Miami Township police said.
Crews worked overnight to repair it, but the road was unable to open for the morning commute because they discovered a second break, said Sgt. Greg Jenkins.
"They patched (the original break) but believe there is another break in the line, so (Ohio 28) is going to be shut down indefinitely at this point," he said just before 5 a.m. Monday."When they patched the line and re-pressurized it, they believe there is another break in the line somewhere and they are going to have to keep digging to find that."
He said crews suspect the cold weather caused the breaks.
It's not clear when the second break will be repaired and the road will fully reopen.
