SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) -

A medical helicopter responded to a single vehicle crash and flew a female driver to the hospital late Monday, police said.

The motorist, Shalanda Levy, 24 of Forest Park, is listed in stable condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is expected to recover, said Springfield Township Police Lt. Brian Uhl.

She was behind the wheel of a gray, four-door Lexus ES 330 when she lost control and the vehicle ran off Galbraith Road at the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway just after 10 p.m., he said.

The Lexus slammed into a pole, trapping Levy inside the Lexus.

Fire crews had to extricate her so she could be flown to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Uhl said.
