FORT WRIGHT, KY (FOX19) -

Katy Young's CrossFit family at Fort Wright CrossFit is still in disbelief after receiving the news that their beloved friend had passed away after falling down stairs in Northern Kentucky.

"First shock, that was the first thing of why was this her time," said Courtney Schaiper, a friend.

Friends describe Young as someone who really encouraged others during workouts.

"She was a total motivator, she would cheer you on till the end, even if you were the last person done. She was still cheering you on she always looked at the best in everybody,” said Kyle Stark, gym owner.

Young was also involved with the RWB (Team Red White & Blue), whose mission is to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.

"That's just Katy, she was very selfless. She was always wanting to help people,” Stark said.

The gym plans to honor Katy with a “Workout of the Day” on Thursday.

"Running classes throughout the day, just kind of bringing people together and do what she loved to do and kind of honor her that way,” Stark said.
