Teen, 14, found guilty of raping intoxicated teen at party

SPRINGBORO, OH (FOX19) -

A Warren County teenager will be sentenced next month after he was found guilty this week of raping a 14-year-old at a party.

"If ever there was a compelling story as to why underage alcohol parties are never a good idea, this one would be it," Warren County Juvenile Court Judge Joseph W.Kirby noted in his decision, according to the statement from Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.

Encouraged by others he knew at a Sept. 11 party, the teen sexually assaulted a girl who was so intoxicated, she was unable to walk unassisted, according to the prosecutor.

Several high school students attended the party, which took place after a Springboro High School football game.

The mother of the teenager hosting the bash was out of town, prosecutors said.

By about 2:00 a.m., one of the guests, the rape victim, was "extraordinarily intoxicated, unable to stand up without assistance, and unable to even speak," Fornshell's statement reads.

"The 14 year-old male defendant led her into the living room and, with the encouragement of some of the other male guests who were also in attendance, committed sexual conduct with her, all of them knowing that her ability to resist or consent was substantially impaired," it states.

Added Fornshell: “If you’re the parent of a teenage daughter, this is your worst nightmare. We have to change the mindset of all young men in our society that engaging in sexual conduct with an extraordinarily intoxicated young woman who is clearly unable to consent is not ‘cool’. It’s not an ‘easy target’ for a sexual conquest. It is rape.”

The teen will be sentenced Feb. 3.
