Media outlets name shooter in Minnesota school rampage

Several media outlets are identifying the shooter who opened fire yesterday at a Minnesota school.

Authorities allege that the teen-ager killed his grandparents and then seven others at a school on an Indian reservation before taking his own life. At least 14 others were injured.

Several news outlets have identified the shooter as Jeff Weise. They cite students and tribal leaders Accounts of Weise's age varied from 15 to 17, as did whether he was a current student at the school in Red Lake, about 240 miles north of the Twin Cities.

Relatives tell the St. Paul Pioneer Press Weise was a loner who usually wore black and was teased by other kids.

Relatives also say his father had committed suicide, and his mother was living in a nursing home because she suffered brain injuries in a car accident.
