CBS producer who was fired for Bush military story is writing her memoirs
What does a former network television producer do after being fired in a high-profile story? She writes her memoirs. That's what former CBS television producer Mary Mapes is doing.
Mapes was fired in January for her role in the network's discredited report on President Bush's military service. The working title of her memoir is "The Other Side of the Story." Mapes said recently she was asked not to say anything when the controversy over the Bush story began.
Now, she says, she'd like a chance to set the record straight about what she calls "the very valid journalism behind the story."
