WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati police went above and beyond the call of duty when they found a 2-year-old boy wandering the street early Tuesday.

The boy was barefoot and walking on Montana Avenue around 2:30 a.m., police said.

"He was in serious need of some clothes so Officer Jamie Landrum bought him a coat, pants, shoes and fresh diapers," CPD Sgt. Dan Hils wrote in a Facebook post that has been shared nearly 1,000 times.

A photo shows Officer Will Nastold lying on the ground next to the child trying to help him take a nap.

Landrum went to Walgreens to purchase clothes, shoes and diapers for the child, Hils said. She also brought him a winter coat.

Tanisha Cladwell, 28, arrived at the police station around 5:45 a.m. to pick up her son. She admitted to being intoxicated and was arrested on a child abuse charge, according to a police report.

Officers said the child has previously left the apartment on his own and Cladwell made no attempts to prevent it from happening again.

The boy was placed in the care of a relative.

"This is who we are at CPD," the Facebook post concludes.
