CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati is once again in the Hollywood spotlight after the newly released trailer for the film "Miles Ahead" shows small glimpses of the city.
"Miles Ahead" is a biographical film directed by Academy Award Winner Don Cheadle, based on the life of jazz musician Miles Davis. Cheadle not only directs the film, but is a co-writer and is the star of the film along with actors: Ewan McGregor and Emayatzy Corinealdi.
The movie was filmed in July of 2014 in Cincinnati and wrapped up in August of that year.
The film is set in the late 70s in New York City. Cheadle told FOX19 NOW that Cincinnati's architecture mixed with good business made it an attractive film destination.
"With what's happening with the incentives here, Los Angeles is actually lagging behind you guys and it's becoming a film friendly town which is great," said Cheadle.
"Miles Ahead" premiered at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah last month with some positive reviews.
Deadline called Cheadle's directorial debut, "Miles Ahead," a "creatively unconventional" film.
"Not to grind so hard, to trust more that we're telling the story and we can afford to breathe more," Cheadle told media when asked what he would have done different with the film in hindsight
Cheadle raised more than $343,496 on crowd funding site IndieGoGo for the movie. That's $18,496 more than the original goal.
The film is set for an April release.
