LOCKLAND, OH (FOX19) - While a couple of Lockland officers were on duty they noticed children in the community playing with a deteriorating basketball hoop.
Sergeant Moermond with the Lockland Police Department praised the officers in a Facebook post as they purchased a new basketball backboard with their own money while not neglecting their duties of answering calls of service.
"Tonight three of my officers went out of their way to help some of our local kids," wrote Moermond. "While on patrol officers Jones, Moyers, and Ohl noticed some kids playing basketball in the street. The basketball backboard was broke and in bad shape. These officers then went to walmart and purchased a brand new basketball hoop with their own money."
The good deed was then extended as the officers took the time to put it together and deliver it to the court.
The officers left a note at the scene that read, "enjoy."
