ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) -

Smoke at a hotel near Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport prompted an evacuation of the fourth floor early Wednesday, according to Boone County dispatchers.

Crews responded to Quality Inn & Suites on Airport Boulevard about 6:30 a.m.

No one was injured.

The incident was upgraded to a two-alarm fire to summon additional help from fire departments in Erlanger and CVG.

Point Pleasant Fire Chief Mike Giordano said the belt that controls the ventilator fans on the top floor burned up, causing smoke to permeate about three to four units inside of the hotel.

Smoke was only reported on the fourth floor.

Since the hotel was not entirely occupied, firefighters were able to move people staying in hotel to other rooms so they did not have to wait in the bitter cold outside, Giordano said.

Everyone staying at the hotel is back in their rooms except the occupants of the three to four units affected by the smoke.

FOX19 NOW has a crew on scene and will continue to update this breaking story.
