Adoption to be finalized for boy who `divorced' killer dad
A 15-year-old New Hampshire boy who won a groundbreaking legal battle to "divorce" his father last year is about to achieve another goal. Patrick Holland's adoption by his long-time guardians Ron and Rita Lazisky of Sandown is expected to become official this afternoon in Norfolk County Probate Court in Massachusetts. The Laziskys have cared for Patrick since shortly after Daniel Holland killed Patrick's mother in 1998. Daniel Holland is serving life in prison without parole. The adoption will close the last chapter in Patrick's struggle to terminate his father's parental rights. He was one of the first children to initiate a termination proceeding against one parent for killing the other.
