OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) - I had lunch with Kara over the weekend.
We met at Che.
We've been pronouncing it "Shay," but apparently we're wrong. It's "Chay."
It is an endearing term for a friend in Argentina.
Che is a Argentinian restaurant and bar on Walnut Street in Over-the-Rhine.
It hasn't been open that long, but is already known for deep fried goodness. Specifically empanadas, which are savory turnovers that are popular in Latin America.
The owner is Argentinian native Alfio, who also owns a namesake restaurant in Hyde Park.
Kara and I both thought the décor was spot on and intimate.
You kind of feel like you're on vacation there. like you've stumbled on a cool spot in Buenos Aires.
Pizzas are also the menu because Argentinian culture is heavily influenced by Italy and Spain.
The country is also renowned for its treatment of beef.
I had the flank steak with eggs.
It was delicious topped with traditional chimichurri sauce.
You could put that on shoe, and it would be delicious.
I think Che is a great addition on our restaurant scene, and I will be back soon.
It seems like the restaurant would really pop at night.
