WINTON HILLS, OH (FOX19) -

An overnight fire displaced a total of 16 people - a dozen children and four adults making up two families, Cincinnati fire officials said.

No one was hurt when flames broke out about 11:44 p.m. Tuesday in the 5700 block of Winneste Avenue, they said early Wednesday in a prepared statement.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found fire in the attic above a utility room.

The blaze was contained to the second floor apartment in the attic and utility room area.

Fire officials blame the incident on an electrical short in the attic.

Smoke detectors were present in the residence, but they were not operating, fire officials said.

Damage was set at $15,000.
