KENNEDY HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) -

A gunman fired eight to 10 shots into a vehicle, striking a male passenger in the leg overnight, Cincinnati police said early Wednesday.

"They were really trying to kill this guy," said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

The 21-year-old man was riding in a vehicle with three of his friends at in the 6600 block of Montgomery Road when the gunman pulled up in another car just after 12:30 a.m. and started firing, Brown said.

The victim was shot in the right leg.

The car stopped at Orion Avenue and the victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is expected to recover, Brown said.

No arrests were made while police continue to investigate.
