Xavier takes on Villanova Wednesday

EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) - We like to think the Xavier Musketeers might be the best team in college basketball.

Villanova is still technically the No. 1 team in the country according to the coaches and AP writers.

To keep that top ranking, the Wildcats will have to go through the Musketeers.

In the newest edition of the coaches poll, Xavier rose from No. 7 up to No. 5, setting up tonight's 7 p.m. game at the Cintas Center.
between the Musketeers and the Wildcats.

This is the first time in Cintas Center history that the No. 1 team in the country will play in the arena. The last time Xavier hosted the top-ranked team was in 1999 against UC in the Crosstown Shootout. Xavier took down the Bearcats and Kenyon Martin, 66-64.

The last time two top five teams played a college basketball game in Cincinnati was in 1959. The No.1 UC Bearcats defeated No.5 Bradley Braves at the historic Armory Fieldhouse, 86-71.

It's not the first top-five match up we've seen this season, but it should be a good one that could bring the Big East title race just a little bit tighter.

Xavier's record is 24-3, 2nd in Big East. The Muskies are two games behind Villanova.
