CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) - University of Cincinnati's campus is one step closer to becoming tobacco free.
UC President Santa Ono announced the university is forming a committee to draft an official tobacco-free campus policy and a plan of implementation in the near future.
The policy will address all forms of smoking including e-cigarettes and dipping tobacco for everyone on the campus including faculty and staff.
In the letter, Ono and Senior VP for Administration and Finance Bob Ambach said, "We encourage all members of our campus community to begin to plan for the day when our tobacco-free policy is fully implemented. This is not only an important step toward providing a healthier environment for all of us, but it is also another step toward sustainability and a cleaner environment."
This initiative started in the fall. Faculty, undergrad students and graduate students all passed a resolution for the campus to be smoke free.
No word yet on the time frame of when the policy will be put in place.
