LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol has launched a homicide investigation after an inmate died in a fight at Lebanon Correctional Institution Tuesday.
Sgt. Vincent Shirey said a male prisoner died about 2 p.m.
The Warren County Coroner's Office identified the inmate as Luther Wade, 26. His autopsy was underway Wednesday morning.
He died during an altercation with another inmate, coroner's officials said.
Wade was serving a 10 year sentence at the prison after an aggravated burglary conviction from Clark County, prison officials said. He had been there since late March 2015.
While violence in Ohio prisons are going down, Lebanon Correctional Institution is the most violent one in Ohio, a state inspection committee found.
A report released last month concluded the prison had nearly 2,600 violent rule infractions between 2012 and 2014.
The overall state rate of violent infractions decreased by 11.8 percent from a 2011 peak.
