FOX19 - Mount St. Joseph defeated Rose-Hulman 93-88 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship game on Sunday to win their first ever conference title and clinch an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The second-seeded Lions overcame a 12-point halftime deficit and outscored the Engineers 16-2 in the final three minutes and 28 seconds to bring home an historic win from the Weaner Center at Defiance College, earning their first ever NCAA tournament bid in Division III.
Senior guard Travis Combs lead the way for MSJ with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Combs was named HCAC tournament MVP. Femi Thompson, who scored 18 points, and Joel Scudder, who added 14 points, both made the all-tournament team.
MSJ will learn its tournament opponent during the DIII selection show on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
