EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) -

A Tri-State Cub Scout had the opportunity Tuesday to meet the Commander and Chief, President Obama.

Eight-year-old Sean Nichols, of Edgewood, KY, was selected as part of a national delegation to help deliver a report on Scouting to the White House.

He will make official presentations to a number of officers and individuals throughout the week.

Nichols is the first Scout from Dan Beard Council to attend, and the first Scout from Kentucky in over 50 years to attend and be a part of the delegation, according to communications director Ken Brunner.

Nichols joined the Scouts at six as a Tiger.  In two short years, he has earned 25 academic belt loops, eight academic pins, 13 sports belt loops, two sports pins and 16 other awards.

He has also helped raise money for other children who have transverse myelitis, a rare neuro-immune disorder that he is battling.
