HOUSTON, TX (FOX19 NOW) - The University of Cincinnati Bearcats lost for a second time in four games on Thursday night with a 69-56 loss on the road at Houston, placing the team right back on the tournament bubble with just one game to go in the regular season.
Without an injured Farad Cobb and Shaq Thomas, UC did their best to tread water in their first loss to Houston since the early 1970s.
The Bearcats jumped out to an early 15-10 lead before the Cougars responded with a 23-5 run to end the first half and UC never recovered. Houston's bench also did some serious damage outperforming the Bearcats 29-3.
Troy Caupain scored a game-high 19 points. Jacob Evans added 14 points and Octavius Ellis pitched in with 11 points. Gary Clark tossed in 6 points and 13 rebounds.
UC returns home for senior day on Sunday against No. 24 SMU at noon.
