Ohio 32 partially reopens from crash that split pole, knocked out power

NEWTOWN, OH (FOX19) -

Ohio 32 is partially open between Round Bottom Road and Little Dry Run Road after an early morning crash split a utility pole, knocking out power to more than 1,000 Duke Energy customers.

Duke Energy crews remain on scene working to replace the pole destroyed when a pickup truck struck it just after 6 a.m., said Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan.

Power was initially knocked out in the area to 1,850 customers, according to Duke Energy's website.

About half, 913, remain without power, which is not expected to be restored until 2 p.m.

The male pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries, Synan said.

He taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center as a precaution, according to the chief.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

To detour around the scene, take Eight Mile to Clough Pike to get back to Ohio 32 and vice versa.
