Cincinnati Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in Mt. Airy Monday just before 7:30 a.m.
Fire fighters found a number of exotic pets in the apartment, and also discovered there were no working smoke detectors present.
Cincinnati Fire Captain Marc Monahan said the fire started in the aquarium that housed the snakes.
Residents say they had no clue that a fire was happening in the building until the heard the fire crews.
"I just got off work and I was taking a shower next thing I come outside and it's smoky,” said Harvey Armstrong.
The small fire in an unoccupied unit was quickly put out.
No injuries were reported. None of the pets were harmed.
The estimated damage is around $2,500.
FOX19 NOW reached out to the landlord of the apartment our calls have not been returned.
