Police: Overwhelmed mother killed developmentally disabled daughter in murder-suicide

Coroner rules on murder-suicide

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A mother felt overwhelmed by caring for her developmentally disabled daughter, so she shot her to death and then turned the gun on herself, police said Friday.

The bodies of Barbara Busch, 54, and Cynthia Busch, 24,  were found in the basement of a Springcrest Drive home about 9 p.m. Thursday, said Police Chief Matthew Fruchey.

Barbara Busch's fiance, who also owns the home, discovered their bodies.

"We found two females in the basement, dead of gunshot wounds, subsequent investigation found it was a mother and her developmentally disabled daughter," Fairfield Township Police Chief Matthew Fruchey said.

A neighbor says she knew the mother and daughter well.

"I've seen them riding the cycle built for two and she just loved that kid to no end, it's just a very sad tragedy," said Lori Lohrer.

Fairfield Township police and the Butler County Coroner's Office continue to investigate.
