ORLANDO, FL (FOX19 NOW) - In the most dramatic finish of the early season of march madness, UConn outlasted Cincinnati 104-97 in four overtimes to advance to the American Conference semifinals.
The drama reached its peak when Summit Country Day grad Kevin Johnson hit a three-pointer with 0.8 seconds left in triple overtime to give UC an 88-85 lead. UConn's Jalen Adams then launched a unbelievable shot from three-quarter court that tied the game to force a fourth overtime.
Five Bearcats scored in double figures including Troy Caupain who d ropped a career-high 37 points in the loss. Octavius Ellis added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Gary Clark had 12 points and 12 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the year. Farad Cobb scored 14 points and Coreante DeBerry added 10 points off the bench.
It was the first quadruple overtime game for Cincinnati since they played seven overtimes against Bradley in 1981. UC now awaits their NCAA tournament fate to be announced on Sunday evening.
