NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - An investigation into wrongdoing at Newport Independent Schools has been completed by the Office of Education Accountability.
According to the report obtained from the OEA, there are six allegations of wrongdoing. The investigation concluded that there were three violations and the resolutions have been issued.
Those three allegation:
- Superintendent Kelly Middleton violated KRS 161.048 and 16 KAR 9:08 by submitting an application for an option 6 temporary provisional certificate for a candidate before the candidate was hired by the district.
- Superintendent Kelly Middleton is re-hiring retired educators in violation of KRS 161.605.
- Superintendent Kelly Middleton is utilizing Title I funded teachers as substitute teachers.
According to the final investigative report. "The Preliminary Investigative Report, Superintendent Middleton did not deny the violations found by OEA during its investigation. The response indicated that the training required in the Resolutions has already been scheduled."
