Vatican Cardinal Condemns Death

Vatican cardinal condemns Schiavo death

The Vatican is condemning Terri Schiavo's death. The Portuguese cardinal who heads the Vatican's office of sainthood says taking out her feeding tube was "an attack against life, which is an attack against God."

He says the pope teaches through both his suffering and words to have "a great respect for life" -- which the cardinal calls "the most precious thing we have."

Another Vatican official said earlier in the day, before Schiavo's death was announced, that keeping the woman from getting food and water was "an unjust death sentence to an innocent."
