CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Like most bars around Cincinnati, St. Patrick’s Day combined with the launch of March Madness means a very busy night.

Nicholson’s Tavern and Pub downtown has a plan in action to help those who’ve had a little too much to drink.

Gary Smith, the manager of Nicholson’s says the first step is checking ID’s.

The larger than normal staff also watches out for excessive drinking.

"If we notice that someone's had 2-3 drinks, the server tells the manager and we swing by the table, talk to them and feel them out," said general manager Gary Smith.

If a buzzed customer has not arranged a safe ride home, the bar staff will call a cab.

In the unfortunate event the customer decides to get behind the wheel drunk, Ohio State Highway Patrol tells us they are on the lookout.

"We do have increased manpower out today and through the weekend, we are going to focus on impaired driving," stated Sgt. Ohio State Highway Patrol David Grooms.
